I really don’t think the 5 volumes of the italian edition contains all the 18 volumes of the original edition… I ask myself why but well… the italian edition is from Edizioni Playpress edited 22 years ago (1992) and well i just thank them to have the possibility to know this manga. Cobra along with the bunny girl confronts Hammerbolt Joe during the search of the gold. Cobra decides to venture into Las Vegas station where he had assumed the transit route was under the hands of the Pirate Guild. The fresh spirit of a young japanese male full of testosterone and kaiju monsters in his head! If you want manbeasts, if you want sexy and deadly ladies wearing spandex, if you want laser shootings and space ridings, then you need to read this. The transport ship Venus carrying the gold had completely disappeared. The drawing and the story are immature and the storyline is a bit messy, but THIS is the thing i mostly appreciated in this manga. I suppose the author Terasawa Buichi was a young boy who watched all these movies and then decided to make a crazy and violent story of what he has seen. Well this is a cyberpunk style manga (something between sci-fi and pulp) i may say between Star Wars, Escape from New York and Blade Runner, all mixed in a blender with more violence. I didn’t expected to find this great manga, coming to me from the late ’70s, unfortunatly not really famous in Italy, i think italian people could barely remember (as me) the anime OAV version on Yamato Video in VHS. I luckily discovered this “Space Adventure Cobra” during my constant research of horror/grotesque/cyberpunk/violent stories represented in manga format.
